NATURAL HABITAT - Danish landscape works and body sculpture

The outline of the project is to create an utter and urgent stillness as a contrast to our fast-moving society today. Natural Habitat is an exhibition of body and landscape photographs, a proposition to come back to nature and to slow down.

The project grows from an interest to place the human body back to its former habitat; the natural landscape. The work focuses on a deep relational pattern system that combines the naked human body set in natural surroundings. In this work, I search for nature and human to merge together through movement.

In the photographs my approach is sculpting and folding my body into the environment with a focus on the structural settings in the landscape. I work with the naked body to reinforce the relation between body and nature, in colour, form and structure. I try to compose the likeness between these two elements to create awareness and co-existence.

A Natural Habitat is land and water areas where the ecosystems biological communities are formed largely by native plant and animal species and human activity has not essentially modified the area's primary ecological functions. This project comes from a desire to create a reflection upon our own human habitat and the relationship between human and nature.

This work is based on a close collaboration with the Danish photographer, Thomas Juul. His passion is evident in his work where the photographs stand out with a clean and aesthetic line. His focus on the Nordic light, colour, shadow and movement comes from a minimalistic approach that creates fascinating pictures, the way he catches the movement and transforms it into still images demands a regard for the detail which Thomas naturally dispose of. His fascination with nature that forms the basis of this artwork is a strong factor and drive in our collaboration. Thomas is educated, in 2003, alongside the photographer Peter Krasilnikoff, one of the most talented and experienced commercial photographers representing the Scandinavian style and light.
